Get Ready for HIMSS19

We are now approaching my favorite event of the year—the HIMSS Annual Conference! The theme of the 2019 conference is “Champions of Health Unite,” and that motif could not more accurately reflect the commitment and expertise that healthcare professionals bring to the industry. All attendees, from clinicians to executives to technology experts, are the superheroes who contribute to lifesaving work each and every day.

This year’s conference will be in Orlando from February 11–15, 2019, and I am more enthusiastic than I’ve ever been. As I get ready for my fourth HIMSS, I am looking forward to connecting with our partners and customers, learning about new technology, and showing current and prospective clients a sampling of what Connection can do. That is the nice thing about HIMSS—it pulls a huge number of healthcare IT professionals together in the same place at the same time, making HIMSS a unique opportunity to connect with familiar faces from across the industry, and to meet new healthcare champions.

At the conference, there will be over 1,300 exhibitors, many of the world’s leading healthcare IT vendors—some attending for their 57th year and others for their first. I am looking forward to exploring the booths of current and potential partners. I am specifically interested in seeing new technology in practice, and exploring trending technologies and concepts such as artificial intelligence, consumerization, blockchain, and security.

As an exhibitor, we will showcase examples of some of the IT solutions Connection provides for our healthcare customers. This year, we will be exhibiting solutions related to consumerization, patient engagement and mobility, and digital transformation. We will also be presenting some of our professional services, including: Security, HIPAA Compliance, Microsoft Mergers and Acquisitions, Backup Data Recovery, and Data Resiliency, Wireless and the Internet of Things, and migrations to Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 365.

Lastly, I am most excited about our second annual giving back project. During the show, attendees can stop by our booth (#3645) to put a “busy bag” together filled with all the things a kid needs to become a superhero! At the end of the event, we will box up all the busy bags, and our teams will donate them to a few local children’s hospitals. Last year, we were able to distribute 400 bags to two children’s hospitals, and this year we hope to deliver 500 bags!
