Connection Knows Enterprise

Vallon Douthit

Q: Can you describe what you do on a day-to-day basis?
A: I am always speaking with my customers, directors, engineers, acquisitions team, and inside sales support team. As a newer rep, I am also constantly engaging our OEM partners to network, build relationships, and find hot, emerging technologies.

Q: How did you become an Enterprise Account Executive? What attracted you to this job?
A: I was originally working at a company that complemented the hardware and services that Connection provides. I already understood that Connection is a true value-added reseller that really does have what it takes to provide my customers with every single IT resource, from A to Z. Through the interview process, I also realized I would be working with some of the most motivated, kind-hearted, competent, talented, and supportive people you can imagine. They were going to be my colleagues and my leaders—and I couldn’t have been more excited to be part of a team like that.

Q: What do you feel is the key skill or attribute needed to succeed in your role?
A: Tenacity, energy, and a passion to learn.

Q: Any advice for newcomers?
A: Utilize every single resource Connection has invested in to make you successful. Respect and rely on your team. Always bring your director or engineer resource with you to meetings. Call your successful peers to ask for advice. Always have an agenda for each meeting. Set your follow-up meeting in your first meetings. Work with and respect your acquisition teams, find and network with our vendor partner reps, and map within your current accounts. Always be on site with your customers. Be responsive to your clients and a true partner with your customers.

Q: What would you be doing if you weren’t an Enterprise Account Executive?
A: I would probably still be in the IT lifecycle services.

Q: What’s the best part about working at Connection?
A: There are so many resources that Connection has invested in over the years to make their customers, reps, and our own company as successful as possible. Honestly, it is nearly impossible not to be successful here. If you put in the work, you will see the return. Our company has a true value-add to make our Enterprise IT customers’ infrastructures run at their maximum potential. We are a true partner with our customers by providing full IT lifecycle management. Connection covers everything—from decommissioning to the selling of new equipment, to architecting solutions and providing enormously talented engineering capabilities to complement our industry’s constantly changing IT products and services. We know our market, we know the latest and greatest products, and we know where to help save our customers’ IT budget dollars. We’re not pushing a sale—we’re here to be a resource.
