I am a Pre-Sales Project Manager, also known as a Service Manager, in the Security Consulting and Professional Services Practice within the Connection Technology Solutions Group. I joined the Connection team in August 2015, and I have been in the Service Manager role for 3 years. I came to Connection looking for a new challenge in my career. Prior to Connection, I worked in an enterprise environment on both security and infrastructure engineering teams. The opportunity that Connection provided in the Service Manager role was the career change and challenge I was looking for—specifically transitioning from the enterprise, internal-focused role to an outward-facing professional services and delivery position.
The Service Manager role is a dynamic position that helps create a link between sales opportunities and professional service engagements. Service Managers are typically one of the primary interfaces between account management teams, the TSG group, and our customers.
A Service Manager must be responsive and work collaboratively with the sales and engineering teams to enable success for our customers. The role is both a challenging and rewarding career. The challenge and reward both come from working closely with our customers to understand their project specific requirements. The Service Manager, in conjunction with our TSG engineering staff, will review these requirements and create a project to deliver a service that will meet or exceed our customer’s specific needs. Most rewarding for my role in the security practice is addressing customer requirements that will keep them safe and secure as they execute their business model.
The Service Manager role is exceptionally gratifying. Any time that we are able to work together successfully building and delivering a consultative or professional service from beginning to end for our customers is a major win for Connection.
