Digital Transformation: It All Starts With The Network

Are You Ready?

Digital Transformation – also known as DT, digitalization, DX, DE (Digital Everything) and Industry 4.0 – is the next revolution that will change everything, only faster and more pervasively than perhaps anything we’ve experienced to date. While elements like big data, analytics, social, mobility, cloud, IoT, and security will all play their roles in the emergence of DX, the transformation all starts with the network – the very framework that connects and supports every other element.

At The Core of IT

IDC Research predicts that DX will attain “macroeconomic scale over the next three to four years, changing the way enterprises operate and reshaping the global economy. This is the dawn of the DX Economy.”

“Digital transformation is not just a technology trend, it is at the center of business strategies across all industry segments and markets,” stated IDC Research Vice President Bob Parker. “Enabled by the 3rd Platform technologies of social, mobile, analytics, and cloud, digital transformation represents an opportunity for companies to redefine their customers’ experience and achieve new levels of enterprise productivity.”

New Rules and Requirements

Global spending on DX technologies will grow to more than $2.1 trillion in 2019 (more than $730 billion in the U.S.), growing at a 16.8% rate over this period. IDC’s top DX predictions include:

By 2020, 50% of the Global 2000 will see the majority of their business depend on their ability to create digitally enhanced products, services, and experiences

By the end of 2017, over 70% of the Global 500 will have dedicated digital transformation/innovation teams

By 2020, all enterprises’ performance will be measured by a demanding new set of DX-driven benchmarks, requiring 20-100% or better business performance

However it’s still very early days for DX. Less than 25% of organizations that participated in a recent 451 Research survey said they had a well-defined formal digital transformation strategy.

First and foremost, DX depends upon speed and agility – more devices creating more data shaping more decisions at an accelerating pace, all facilitated by the network that connects devices, data, people, and processes.

Embracing the Dawn of DX

The network of the DX future must be faster, more resilient, and more secure. Today’s environment, where 80% of businesses experience network faults caused by human error on a regular basis, is not a formula for success. It becomes even more challenging when you add in external threats like phishing, ransomware, DDoS, and other breaches.

The potential benefits of DX are incredible and achievable, especially when you start with a fast, resilient, and secure network. We can help you get there. From a Network Assessment to planning, implementation, and ongoing management and support, our team can ensure you have your network DX-ready.
