New Rules and Requirements
Global spending on DX technologies will grow to more than $2.1 trillion in 2019 (more than $730 billion in the U.S.), growing at a 16.8% rate over this period. IDC’s top DX predictions include:
By 2020, 50% of the Global 2000 will see the majority of their business depend on their ability to create digitally enhanced products, services, and experiences
By the end of 2017, over 70% of the Global 500 will have dedicated digital transformation/innovation teams
By 2020, all enterprises’ performance will be measured by a demanding new set of DX-driven benchmarks, requiring 20-100% or better business performance
However it’s still very early days for DX. Less than 25% of organizations that participated in a recent 451 Research survey said they had a well-defined formal digital transformation strategy.
First and foremost, DX depends upon speed and agility – more devices creating more data shaping more decisions at an accelerating pace, all facilitated by the network that connects devices, data, people, and processes.
