Behind the Scenes: Your Technology Resources at Work

Chad Hughes

Q: Can you describe what you do on a day-to-day basis?
A: In short, I offer advice on IT decisions. But really, I help Connection’s customers find the correct solutions for their needs and environment.

Q: How did you become an Account Manager? What attracted you to this job?
A: Originally, I wanted to find a job related to sales where I’d be rewarded for my work and have the opportunity to grow within the company. I knew I’d be a good fit as an Account Manager when I interviewed for the position.

Q: What do you feel is the key skill or attribute needed to succeed in your role?
A: Being able to adjust on the fly is incredibly important for an Account Manager—every day is different and every customer is different. Also, the ability to understand and relay information to your customers is key to success.

Q: Any advice for newcomers?
A: Relax and be yourself. Remember, you were hired for a reason—your personality and your desire to help others. You’re a people person, and the manager who hired you knows this.

Q: What would you be doing if you weren’t an Account Manager?
A: I’d like to be a Sales Coach and maybe even a Sales Manager. But for now, I love being an Account Manager.

Q: What’s the best part about working at Connection?
A: The people and the environment. I look forward to seeing my coworkers every day—we’re like family. And it’s the same way with my customers.
